MANASQUAN LAUNCHES THE SUMMER WITH NEW JERSEY’S
FIRST “STOP, CHARGE and SHOP” PROGRAM ON THE JERSEY
SHORE THROUGH CHARGEPOINT ELECTRIC VEHICLE FAST
CHARGING STATION DONATION PROGRAM
To launch the program, Mayor Donovan and Members of Council will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, May 28th at 12:00 noon at the South Street Parking lot.
As a participant of the BMW/Volkswagen DC Express Corridor program Manasquan’s received two donated electric vehicle stations for the South Avenue parking lot in the heart of Manasquan’s downtown business district. As a result of this partnership and the support of JCP&L, the borough will be destination stop for tourists looking for the “stop, charge and shop” experience
The Manasquan electric vehicle fast charge stations are the first of a kind along the Jersey Shore route from Manasquan to Atlantic City and beyond. While charging, motorist will have the opportunity for a distinct shopping experience of the best eateries, retail and arts establishments – all within walking distance!
Manasquan is the first municipal government in the State of New Jersey to participate in the fast charge program and part of Manasquan’s “Green Vision” for the community.
The Jersey Shore route is part of Chargepoint’s Boston to Washington DC’ corridor for electric vehicles.
Circle BMW of Eatontown will have their BMW i3 at the charging station. Manasquan’s Mayor Donovan, member of Council, and representatives from JCP&L, Chargepoint, and Circle BMW will be on hand for the ribbon cutting. Chargepoint will also hand out free items and information about the station.
